Hilston & Bennett offer bespoke timber windows, sash and case windows, casement windows, double glazing and timber external doors across Scotland and in the cities of Glasgow, Perth, Edinburgh Stirling. We specialise in listed buildings and conservation area properties. We understand the responsibility we have to maintain the original character of historic buildings. We will ensure all detailing is closely matched or appropriately reinstated when installing new windows and doors.

Hilston & Bennett was established in 1981 and has since successfully serviced both private and commercial customers. We are a family run business with the highest emphasis on excellent customer service. What to expect from Hilston & Bennett:

We will make an honest opinion as to the work and materials required. Whether it be sash and case windows, UPVC windows, timber external doors.
We will not tell you that you have to replace any parts of your item unnecessarily, from full sash & case windows, casement windows, parting beads, and sills and baton rods, unless they are rotten or beyond repair.
We will fully inspect all wood to ensure there is no damage and the correct steps are taken whether it be repair or full replacement.

  We needed internal doors to match the originals in our 1920s house after building work. Had quotes from a few places for bespoke (non standard sizes and rare style) but the prices were really high so we’d decided to go for doors that weren’t a match but could be made in our non standard size by an on-line supplier down south somewhere .  A friend mentioned someone he knew from years ago who ‘did that sort of thing’ and that’s how we came across Hilton & Bennett.  Almost didn’t bother getting them to quote but so glad we did.  The quote was done quickly and was significantly less than others.  Being honest it was still more than we imagined we’d have to pay when we set out but we were naive obviously.   They sent someone out free of charge to check it all over when we said we were a bit nervous about our measurements.  The doors were made in a week and we picked them up the other day .  They’re solid and beautiful.  They’ve been primed ready for painting and the finish is smooth & silky.  The joiner who measured up took away a piece of our trim and said they’d match it if they had the right cutter.  They did match it and even gave us the unused trim they made which we’ll use to tidy up other doors.  Really looking forward to them getting hung next week.
